Cricketing superstar and one of the best Indian batsmen of all time, Virat Kohli, on Thursday (May 1), won the hearts of Tamil star Silambarasan TR and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman’s fans. Currently spearheading the Royal Challengers Bangalore to the top of the Indian Premier League season table with his batting, Kohli participated in a fun promotional activity in which he was asked about his current favourite song.
“You will be shocked,” said the former RCB captain with a smile, before playing ‘Nee Singam Dhan’ from Silambarasan’s Pathu Thala, composed by Rahman. The video took the internet by storm as the song, ever since its release in 2023, has been used repeatedly by cricketing fans to praise the long legacies of their cricketing idols like MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and Kohli.
Simbu too took note of RCB’s video and reshared it on his social media pages, writing ‘nee singam dhaan @imVkohli’, which translates to ‘You are indeed a lion.’

‘Nee Singam Dhan,’ which has lyrics written by Vivek and vocals by Sid Sriram, speaks about channelling a lion-like spirit and bravery. It speaks about being humble and grounded and inspires a fighter’s spirit to overcome challenges.
Meanwhile, the post also led to netizens wondering if Silambarasan would be the right choice to play Virat in a potential biopic. Fans shared pictures of the two and tweeted about the similarities in their looks.
