The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) governing board finalised various aspects of the inaugural Shooting League of India (SLI) featuring global stars, to be hosted with eight teams from November 20 to December 2.

The governing board gave concrete shape to the governance structure, sports disciplines, league format, players recruitment, categories, agency appointments, the brand, and logo launch, apart from awards and prize money.

“Blending elite sport with league-style excitement, SLI aims to elevate shooting as a sport and inspire future talent. A franchise based shooting league will allow some of the best shooters around the world to be a part of the same team, enabling a speedy growth of youngsters in India, and also at a global level,” said the president of NRAI, Kalikesh Singh Deo.

The technical committee’s recommendation of having mixed team events in air pistol, air rifle, rifle 3-position, 25-metre pistol, apart from trap and skeet events was approved.

Eight teams will be divided into two groups, and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knock-out stage.

Players will be grouped in four tiers to strike a balance between experienced stars and emerging talent.

The logo for the league will be unveiled on June 4. Further details about the awards and prize money will be announced in due course.
