All eyes will be on the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night, with Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals — the only teams still in the fray for the fourth Playoffs position in the Indian Premier League — taking each other on.

The two camps, though, will have one eye on the skies, with pre-monsoon showers making their presence felt in and around the city.

The forecast for Wednesday night is for clear weather, with a spell of thunderstorm predicted in the morning. But Mumbai Indians will be hoping to set the Wankhede on fire against a team that finds itself in a must-win situation.

A win will assure Mumbai Indians of a place in the Playoffs, while Delhi Capitals will remain in the hunt with a win. Both teams will have to face Punjab Kings in their respective last league clash.

The Capitals — after having continued their mediocre latter half of the tournament with a 10-wicket drubbing at the hands of table-topper Gujarat Titans two nights ago — will hope to bank on their better away record this season.

While K.L. Rahul will have to continue his exploits with the willow, the pace bowling attack will have to live up to the occasion and also make up for Mitchell Starc’s absence.

Delhi Capitals will once again need star batter K.L. Rahul to come good against Mumbai Indians to keep its IPL Playoffs hopes alive.

For Mumbai Indians, besides enjoying home conditions, it also has an advantage in the recent head-to-head record. After all, a close win in Delhi last month had sparked off a six-match unbeaten run for Hardik Pandya’s men.

Can it repeat the Kotla heroics at Wankhede and seal the Playoffs spot? Or will the race for the Playoffs remain alive till the very end?
