Left-arm spinner P. Vidyuth’s seven for 73 helped TNCA President’s XI bowl out Jammu & Kashmir for 230 and secure a huge 337-run first-innings lead on day four of the Buchi Babu tournament semifinal at the CSK High Performance Centre here on Wednesday.
After J&K collapsed from its overnight 212 for four, it conceded the match for TNCA President’s XI to progress to the final.
There was considerable turn and bounce for the spinners on the third day, when Vidyuth had claimed three wickets.
On the fourth day, he opened his tally with a classic left-arm spinner’s dismissal – he had Dikshant Kundal (1) bowled off a delivery that pitched on middle, turned, and hit the top of the off-stump.
Abid Mushtaq (duck) played off his hip to be caught at leg-slip as Vidyuth claimed his second five-for of this edition.
Opener Yawar Hassan, who had dug in for 84 (204b, 10×4), was trapped plumb in front off a ball that pitched on middle and straightened.
Sunil Kumar (duck), the last wicket to fall, was bowled off a delivery that kept low and went with the arm.
Another left-arm tweaker, Vanshaj Sharma, who had injured his bowling shoulder on the field on Tuesday, was absent hurt.
The scores (semifinal, day four): TNCA President’s XI 567/9 decl. bt Jammu & Kashmir 230 in 74 overs (Yawar Hassan 84, Abdul Samad 75, P. Vidyuth 7/73).
