Sift Kaur wins gold; Esha bags silver in shooting World Cup

Esha Singh won the silver medal three points behind sun Yujie of China in the women’s 25-metre sports pistol in the shooting World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, Asian Games gold medallist and World record holder, Sift Kaur Samra won the gold in women’s 50-metre rifle 3-position event, with an authoritative fare, beating Anita Mangold of Germany by 3.3 points, after having topped qualification with 590.

After having qualified in the seventh place, Esha shot strong in the final, and was one point away from the eventual champion before the last series.

Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker, lost the shoot-off and placed sixth, after having shot 585, the third best score in qualification.

India has so far won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal.
