Reserve Bank of India’s Prashant More and Tamil Nadu’s L. Keerthana won the men’s and women’s titles in the 52nd National carrom championship at the Harkishan Singh Surjeet Bhawan on Friday.
Former World champion Prashant proved too strong for Jain Irrigation Systems Limited’s Sandeep Dive as he raced to a 25-9, 10-25, 25-2 victory.
Keerthana beat the World Cup champion, M. Khazima of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) in a thrilling fashion in the women’s final, with the score of 16-20, 25-2, 14-12
The results (final): Men: Prashant More (RBI) bt Sandeep Dive (JISL) 25-9, 10-25, 25-2.
Semifinals: Prashant bt Zaid Ahmad Farooquee 21-18, 23-10; Sandeep Dive bt Abhijit Tripankar 21-20, 7-25, 25-2.
Women (final): L. Keerthana (TN) bt M. Khazima (PSPB) 16-20, 25-2, 14-12.
Semifinals: Khazima bt tuba Sehar 12-10, 25-6; Keerthana bt V. Mithra 11-25, 23-10, 25-8.
